Tama River flows from Okutama Lake to Tokyo Bay.
Left or Right side means when see from the upper side.
Left side (Tokyo, north side):
The course is well meintenanced and signs of kilometers are located in detail.
The course is divided into some parts because of local governments district, but pavement roads connects the parts, so we can go up to Hamura no seki (羽村の堰) easily. The course is crowded with many cyclists and the neiborhoods.
Right side (Kanagawa, south side):
There are less parts of pavement roads compared to left side because of geographical conditions or because local governments have no interest in cycling. Moreover, There is a dangerous point that we have to run on heavy traffic road.
Different from left side, we can see little people in the upper stream from Noborito(登戸).
You can manage to go to Kanegafuchi Park(鐘ヶ淵公園) in Ome via both sides. If you want to go to the upper stream, go up on Route 411. The distance from Tokyo Bay to Okutama Lake is 135km.
